How to get here
Flights
Please check with the airline if your child can travel unaccompanied by an adult.
Gatwick - We recommend that you fly to Gatwick Airport , which is very near to Brighton. From there we can arrange a taxi driver to meet students in the arrival lounge. Students of 15 or over also have the option of bus or train, which are cheap and easy to use.
Heathrow - there is a good bus service which takes about 2 hours and is suitable for students 15 or over. For younger students we can arrange a taxi service.
Stansted airport is 4 hours from Brighton. For older students there is a train and bus service which will take you to Brighton or Hove, for younger students taxis can be arranged.
Taxis
We do not recommend that you take a taxi from the rank outside the building as they cost a lot of money.
We are happy to arrange a taxi for students through our own contacts. This will cost much less than a taxi from the ranks and can be shared.
The driver will meet students in the Arrivals Hall in Gatwick, Heathrow or Stansted. He will hold up a sign showing the student's name, and will then drop them off at the ECHO House. If the student cannot see the driver he/she should wait at the 'airport information' desk and phone the school.
IMPORTANT: Students are personally responsible for paying the driver directly for the taxi. Taxi money cannot be included in the ECHO fees. Money will not be lent to students to pay for taxi rides. To make sure that the return journey can be paid for, students should deposit £40 or more in the ECHO safe-box on arrival.
Trains/Bus
For students of 16 and over arriving at Gatwick or Heathrow there are other possibilities. It is easy to catch either taxi or bus from the airport buildings. When you arrive in Brighton or Hove stations, a taxi is easy to catch from the ranks.
